Cheap Weddings - Can It Be Done?
What woman doesn't look forward to her wedding day? Most of us love the finer things in life, including the big fancy wedding, but we all know that these weddings aren't feasible for everyone. Cheap weddings are entirely possible if you prevent yourself from spending unnecessary money. To save yourself from unnecessary splurging, here are some tips:
Bridal Shops:
Don't let them order a size you know will be too big. You know what size you wear; you're the one who's been trying on wedding dresses. They will often tell you that they must allow for this or that, and then you end up paying alteration fees for their seamstress to take the dress up. Cheap weddings stay cheap when you do things like make sure they order a dress in the proper size.
Vendors:
Regardless of the vendor, no matter who it is, be sure you know what all their fees are from the beginning. There could be a lot of extra costs and fees you won't otherwise know about. This applies to bands, performers, caterers, and others. Ask them right out if they have any hidden fees, and get the agreement in writing.
Don't Say Wedding:
When you're calling around to get price quotes from different vendors, don't mention that you're having a wedding. This seems kind of silly, but simply telling them that you're having an 'event' can save you money.
Once vendors hear the word 'wedding,' their prices skyrocket to three or four times the price for a different event the same size as a wedding.
Once you have their quote, you can haggle with the prices to get a lower cost. Cheap weddings result from following tips like this. So, can they be done? Yes, so long as you plan your budget, stick with it, and stay away from those spending traps described above.
