Discover how come Americans rack up so much debt
Debt from credit cards and other debts that are not secured such as personal loans, have become a large problem for the greater part of families in America . Debtors have become to used to just utilizing their card to get whatever they want, whenever they want it, without truly having the money to pay for it. Below I will list the top reasons that Americans end up becoming so indebted with credit card debt.
1. Impulsive Buying and Bad Spending Habits!
Buying on impulse shows lack of self-discipline. People will merely stumble across an item in a shop and pay for it on their card, all due to that they cannot show some patience in getting, whatever item it is they bought, with no regard as to whether they actually have the cash for it then or not. Credit cards feed the fire of impulse buying that is what the cards are there for to satisfy our need for instant gratification. You know there is a adage "patience is a virtue" if some individuals kept to that standard they would not be in so much debt.
Undisciplined spending behaviors run along the same line as buying on impulse. Some individuals just pamper themselves way to often in life. A good example might be, someone might go to a full service restaurant, and instead of getting a chicken sandwich and fries, they get the filet mignons, the appetizer or two, the happy hour special, and the dessert special. Par for the course they charge it on their credit cards. Don't take me out of context every once in a while splurging isn't bad, but for some of us it's an everyday occurance. And these undisciplined spending behaviors can lead up to a mountain range of debt extremely quick.
My Advice: Upon the next time you find yourself at a store any type of store, and you are intending to make a charge with your plastic. Look down at the items you are going to charge and think to yourself "Do I really need these things?". If you find yourself purchasing an item that is more of a want then a need put it back, and commit to yourself when you have actual cash not a credit card, to return and buy that merchandise for yourself without using your card. The key point here is to distinguish between wants and needs, your food is a need, your toothpaste is a need, the new album is a want, the brand new pair of sneakers are a want. A tune up for your vehicle is a need, a supercharger for your vehicle is a want.
2. Having Too Many Credit Cards!
This is the next big problem to individuals getting into major debt problems. People plainly just can't reject the credit card offers they receive in the mail. Debtors get these cards in the mail saying your pre-approved and your line of credit is 5k. For a lot of people this is too much to take on and they will wholeheartedly accept every card and promptly use them.
My advice:Ignore these offers, they are only going to hurt you! These offers are not necessary. Think of every one of these card offers you get in the mail as a giant financial time bomb waiting to blow up. The only way to diffuse them is by tossing them promptly into the garbage. Learn to reject the new credit offers you do not need them, this cannot be stressed loudly enough.
3. Cash Advances!
This is a seriously big factor in people stacking up debt. It is just so easy to go to the ATM and use cash against your card. Becoming extremely addicting to individuals and becomes a huge reason why they accrue such large debt amounts.
My Advice: Stay away from cash advances. This in reality is almost the same as just paying on your card, because you still get charged interest and pile up a skyscraper of debt.
