Basement Designs - The Perfect Retro Basement Designs

by Jessica P

If you are looking for great basement designs for your basement, you may want to consider going retro. Even if the basement seems like a very dark and dingy place right now, with the right retro design, you can make it a great place to hang out in. No matter what kind of budget you have to work with, more than likely you'll be able to come up with what you need to make your basement a retro haven.

Add Some Great Lighting

Of course lighting for the basement is going to be important if you want to go through with the retro design. Go wild with the lighting: Add some nice lava lamps to enhance that retro theme. Adding a disco ball to the ceiling will give it a great touch as well. Basements are dark places, so you want to be sure to add plenty of light to brighten it up.

Go with Retro Window Coverings

Now if your basement has windows of any kind, you want to be sure to come up with retro window coverings to go along with your basement designs. Look around and you are sure to find plenty of patterns that will go great with a retro theme. Obviously you can always shop around and buy your curtains, but if you know how to sew (or if you're adventurous enough to learn how), you might want to try making them yourself.

Look for Pieces to Pull it Together

We've got the lights, we've got the curtains, and now we just need a few extra touches to pull it all together. Here's where you can think about adding a retro wall mural, retro pillows, and other retro-style decorations that will really carry the theme throughout the basement.

A retro theme in your basement can definitely be a fun theme to incorporate. So, if you have been looking for the perfect basement designs, consider using a retro theme to spice things up.
